"Counsellors seek to assist people to increase their understanding of themselves and their relationships with others, to develop more resourceful ways of living, and to bring about change in their lives" (NZAC, 2002).
Counselling provides an opportunity to talk about a problem or a worry in a safe place. People come to counselling to talk about what is happening for them, for example you might be feeling anxious or sad, frustrated and angry, or upset and hurt.
You might be experiencing something you recognise on the counselling page. Whatever might be creating problems in your life, you can talk about in counselling.
I have a holistic approach when working with people. I wish to honour people's values, beliefs, culture, and the communities within which they live. I have an integrated counselling style drawing on a number of recognized counselling approaches (including Narrative, Cognitive Behavioural and Strengths Based Counselling).
Through counselling conversations, together we look to find what works for you and how you might move towards the life you hope for.
If you have questions or curiosities regarding counselling and the counselling relationship please ask, as I am happy to go over these with you. I respect your right to make your own decisions about your life.
